Okay, well not today today but like, around this time 10 years ago 🙂
Linking up with the DC Trifecta ladies Mar, Cynthia, and Courtney for their Friday Five! Loving this blast to the past theme!
10 Years ago around today
I was a sophomore in college studying Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. I knew what I wanted to study as soon as I started at the university and was in and out in 4 years. This time in my life was basically me going to class, going to work, and going to the library to type essays. I didn’t own a computer and took advantage of the 24 hour labs on campus. Working a full time job in college meant having to squeeze in homework at crazy, insane hours of the night. I’d go to class dressed in my uniform (I worked at a Sports Authority) and then go straight to work from school and straight to the lab from work.
Because of ^^^^^, my Coke addiction was for real. I was a regular at 7 Eleven filling and re-filling my Big Gulp cup with the brown stuff. I needed to stay awake.
I got lucky with my college roommates. Not like that you dirty minded little devil!! I stayed in the dorms my freshman year and ended up living with my roommates the rest of my college life. They ended up being the most awesome girls ever, enough for us to want to stay together all the way through and enough to become bridesmaid material when we all got married. ❤
I wasn’t running but I was more involved with keeping up to date with my other sport addiction: basketball.
And finally, most importantly, 10 years ago this guy asked me to be his girl….
I hope everyone has a good weekend!! It’s Friiiiidaaaay!! ❤ , helly
–What were you doing 10 years ago?
–What’s the biggest change in you from the you 10 years ago?
Aw, looks like 10 years ago you were well on your way to who you are now! I love seeing these little flashbacks today but I’m afraid mine is a little more boring since I was still in high school 10 years ago!! I’ve been through quite a few changes since then but most most notably I’m a much more confident person now 😀
I would say I’m def more confident now too 🙂
10 years ago I was just about to start college – wild. And I think my outlook on health and fitness is 100% different. I used to not care about exercise or diet, and now I am borderline obsessed! Hope you have a fabulous weekend and I love all these old photos : )
Oh totally. I was not at all focused on my health back then. Not when I was drinking 5-6 Big Gulps a day….lol! Have a great weekend!
Loved reading this!! It’s so cool to see more about the past since blogging is usually so focused on the present 🙂
So true! Plus, I like “getting to know” the bloggers more 🙂
Omg you and your soda. That is one long relationship! Luckily, your other one won out, right?
I still drink soda 😦 but not as much 🙂
AWWW YOU AND BEN!!!! Happy 10 years. ❤ You guys are freaking adorable and I love you!
WE love you and B!!!
Oh, my gosh!! Ten years with your guy? That’s awesome. Can you imagine drinking all that soda now? I can’t even stand it anymore, but I know I used to do it, too – ha! What a fun post, Helly! Hope you have a great weekend!
Unfortunately, I still drink soda 😦 but not as much 🙂
awww you and your honey! so adorable 🙂
😀
aww, you two are adorbs!!! pretty lady you are ❤ – 10 years ago I was living in cold, wintery Boston 🙂
Sooo cold!!!! 🙂
You dont look a day older! 10 years ago I was consumed with wedding planning. The biggest changes since then have been becoming a mother, a runner, and loving my career choice. All of which has led to a more confident me.
Lol!! Thank you!!
Totally agree with the changes 🙂
I didn’t realize you and I have such a similar timeline! 10 years ago I was a sophomore too, and dating my now-husband…and we’re celebrating 5 years this summer!
Wow!!! Love it!!! ❤
What a fun post! A lot changes in 10 years. I had just finished my freshman year of college 10 years ago and now I am married, in my career and running is a very important part of my life! All great changes! Running has been so transformative in my life and I am very thankful for that! Have a great weekend!
Totally!! Running is def a reason why my life is the way it is now—just awesome 🙂
Awww! These flashbacks are a lot of fun!
I’m definitely more confident than I was 10 years ago. Landing the practicum that I completed 10 years ago at this time definitely helped me grow.
I’d def agree about being more confident now–it’s true what they say about it coming with age!
It was about 10 years ago that I met my hunny, too! 🙂 I can’t even remember what life was like without him!
Oh man, me either!!! I’m one of those crazy obsessed wives lol! 🙂
This is such a great post. Man the me of 10 years ago was an insecure mess. Being in my 30’s is wonderful. Although I had a blast 10 years ago.
I too, am loving being 30!!! I was so excited for my new decade lol!
Hahaha love the Dumb and Dumber meme!! Crazy to see how what everyone was doing 10 years ago. Love it! Biggest change? I wasn’t a runner – in fact, I was in college, a party girl, and a smoker. Go figure!!!
Wow! Never woulda guessed lol! I was a “party” girl to I guess you could say, but not a smoker .
Yup!!! For four years (the college years, of course, lol)!
now we’re recovered party girls 😉
Love the pictures!!
Thank you! 🙂
10 years ago I was in the Air Force flying back and forth in a long distance relationship with my now hubby who was also in the Air Force stationed at a different base. I lived in San Antonio TX and he in Little Rock Arkansas!
That’s so awesome you guys handled long distance the way you did–a great success story 🙂 ❤
I love your looking back at 10 years ago and the pic of you and B!! You are super lucky with your roomies too!! 10 years ago right now, I was dating Robyn, living in Boston with friends, and generally having a blast but I had a job and boss I loathed. Thankfully, a few months after that I landed at my current company! It’s funny how 10 years seems like just yesterday sometimes and other times, it’s like it was a lifetime ago!
Ew for yucky bosses! Glad you got out of that!
It’s so true! Sometimes it seems os far far away and then other times, it just happened.
Awwww I loved reading your flashbacks! I feel like we both had a lot in common!
Doesn’t surprise me 🙂
