It’s Friday and I’ve been digging the DC Trifecta’s topics so I’m linking up with them again for this week’s Five Favorites. Thank you Mar, Cynthia, and Courtney for hosting! My 5 Favorites 🙂 Favorite thing about my job I’m a high school English teacher and while it’s tough something to work with squirrely, hormonal teenagers, they can actually be really fun sometimes. During out poetry unit, I get to read the likes of Frost, Wordsworth, and Shakespeare. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that! Except it does! I have a my students create a sonnet, after reading Shakespeare’s “Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day?”, on the topic of love. Their sonnet is on something they love. One of my students decided to devote 14 lines to Taco Bell. Yes, you read that right. And it was actually pretty good! Shall I tell you of the great Taco Bell? So my favorite thing about my job is seeing students create. Most of them hate poetry, but then they start writing and see that they’re actually pretty good. And that it’s fun! It’s the best. Favorite thing about where I live OMG, I love it here.
Favorite thing about being married I’ve gushed enough about my husband but I don’t care. I have an absolute blast with him and my favorite thing about being married is the constant companionship. I don’t mind being alone, but I’d so much rather be with my husband ❤ Favorite thing about being a mom Gahh!!! There’s so many things but it’s seeing my kids grow right before my eyes. Seeing that light bulb go off. Seeing them explore, absorb, learn. My daughter has been in a colors phase and recently drew her first rainbow I couldn’t believe its beauty. She told me what each color was and then said, “My rainbow!!” and then, “For you mommy!” MELT. My son has recently discovered a love of reading and is constantly asking me to “Book! Book!” (which means read, of course 🙂 ) I love it. Favorite thing about running YOU No, seriously. When I first started writing and keeping this blog, I wasn’t sure how long I’d last. But then I started “meeting” people and it’s really become a place for me to “hang out” with my friends. You all have been through a lot with me and have comforted me at my lows and celebrated with me in my highs. I’ve always loved running but it’s the running community that really makes this sport special. What are some of your favorite things? About your job? Where you live? Running? Family?
This post is like a big hug. My favorite thing this afternoon is that I have a mom who just offered do a 24 hr turnaround trip just to see me. I miss her so much! Not favorite is a husband on a 30 hr shift and the fact that it has been too long since I saw said mommy.
AWWWWW. Yay Suz’s mom!!! ❤
I live in Pennsylvania and I just love watching all the seasons! They may be a pain, but its so beautiful! I also love how you can go north and hit mountains, south and hit farmlands. It’s like a little bit of everything mixed into one state 🙂
P.s your daughters rainbow is awesome!! I LOVE it!
thank you! 🙂
You’re so right–I do get jealous of you guys who get to see leaves change colors. It’s SO pretty!!!
These are all so great. You have an awesome family. And I would love living where you do too. Look at those temps! High school kids are funny and I can see my friends doing something like that Taco Bell sonnet. Sometimes I recall proof reading papers in high school and it makes me cringe for my sister-in-law who is an English teacher. There is some terrible spelling, grammar, and just plain old writing out there.
Yep, unfortunately, there are more of those bad writings than good but when we do see good, it’s like it carries over for a while lol!
This post is awesome!
I love the taco bell poetry–so creative!
Right?! They surprise me!
haha Taco Bell poetry, love it. It is creative though! Did you read them some poetry about Diet Coke? 😉 I love just love the running/blogging community too! I never thought I would feel so close to people I’ve never met before and be able to relate to so many people! And your little family is so cute :). One of my favorite things about my job as a PT tech is seeing people progress with their exercises and the attitudes of some of the older patients ha some of them have quite the sense of humor and one of my favorites as a coach is motivating those that may not be the fastest, but they sure work hard if not harder than some of the faster kids, I just love encouraging them and seeing them accomplish things that they thought they couldn’t 🙂
Oh I totally have a McDonald’s and Coke poem LOL! You seem like you have such a fun and rewarding job and you clearly love it! I love it when people love their jobs. You hear way too many people complain about them
This is the best post ever! My daughter is 3 and I feel the same about watching her learn and grow. The things she says sometimes…
Seriously!!! ❤
Your kids are so cute! I love the rainbow and that your son loves to read. He is clearly the son of an English teacher 🙂
I am jealous of your awesome weather. Our highs are the same, but your lows are still nice and cool!
BTW have you heard from Richard (running schlub)? I haven’t seen him in the blog world in a while and I wonder how his marathon went last month.
I haven’t heard from him 😦 I actually did seem him at the race; he walked by me, but I was too sick to stop him and say hi
Man, I wish I was in AZ with you right now! I’m sick of winter! And I love winter, so it takes a lot for me to say that. My favorite thing right now is that it’s supposed to be in the 40’s all week, yaaay!
I wish you were here toooooo!!!!!
I totally agree, there is nothing like watching the lightbulb go off in your kids head, it makes me giddy!
❤
