Yesterday I wrote about how I wasn’t sure what I was training for–RnR Madrid 1/2 Marathon or Grand Canyon Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim. Well, I seemed to have forgotten that I’ve got a 5k on Saturday lol!
I have not done any speed work for quite some time now and am not sure I’m ready for a speedy 5k. They’re not particularly my favorite because I feel like it requires full on beast mode the entire way. I’m more of a leisurely long distance runner jaja! I’d love to finally get my sub 25:00 but I don’t foresee that happening with this race.
What I’m most excited about is that my brother and sister are running it too! My sister is a runner (she’s the one that got me hooked on this thing) but my brother is not. He’s 6’2, 280 and yeah. But what I love about him is that he’s always up for anything–even doing something way outside his comfort zone. And he’s also one of our biggest cheerleaders š
It’ll be our first race together and I’m just so stoked about it. Oh and random fact: My brother and I were born in the same year–he in January and me in December! (Clearly, I was an oops baby lol!)
In other news, we have a winner!! The ENERGYbits giveaway goes to…..
Yay Jolene!!! I’ll be e-mailing you to get some important info.
Thank you to those that entered and if you’re interested in trying ENERGYbits, they are only available at ENERGYbits.com, and Jonathan (their Community Manager) has shared with me that he’d be happy to connect anyone with a current ambassador to share a discount on a bag of bits, or more info on their sample program – you can email him at jlevitt@energybits.com
–Do your siblings run or anyone else in your family?
–Are you a 5k fan?
I hate 5ks! I’m pretty sure it’s my worst distance. With that being said, they’re a must and I still try and do one or two of them every year. Fortunately, the one I usually run isn’t until October š
I agree, you gotta do ’em and I usually do the same–one or two a year. This will be my first and my next/last will be October as well š
I have not been a 5k fan in the past, but I would really like to change that. I am so used to pacing for long distances, I kid of forgot how to go all out.
Thanks again for the energy bits!
I’m used to pacing for long distances too–hope you like the bits! š
I love 5k runs! My siblings run a little here and there but not regularly. Have fun!!!
Thank you!
Have fun at the 5k with your family this weekend! I wish my brother liked running more, but I guess I can’t complain since he did a 10 mile Tough Mudder with me š
I may be the only person that likes 5ks and doesn’t prefer marathons…but I’m ok with that lol
That’s awesome he did that with you! I think people have their preferred distances and it’s cool 5Ks are yours! I’d have to say the 1/2 marathon is mine š
That’s so awesome your siblings run too! No one in my family runs actually, but I’m trying to get my mom to run a 5K with me. I promised her it would be tons of fun! I’ve never run a 5K race but I want to do at least one this year. Good luck on Saturday!
Thank you! My brother doesn’t run but he’s being a good sport this time for us lol! š I hope your mom decides to run with you–that would be really awesome!
Yay! Family affair! My sis runs with me. My mom watched us and got into it too a few years ago. My bro says he has started running. Trying to make it spread!
Your sister is so pretty.(<–random but yeah)That's so cool how your mom runs too–she's such a champ!!!!
Ha, thanks. You’re sister ain’t too bad either! š
My husband and I ran a trail 10K race together and it was a ton of fun! I’ll be doing the Bubble Run this Sat. w/ my 5 year old daughter. So, yea!! Fitness and Family go hand & hand š
Love hearing couples that run together! and yay for including your daughter š
I used to love 5ks but now I’m not sure…I hate running fast so I like longer races where I can take it slow! That being said, I haven’t run a 5k since I started training for my first half so I’m wondering if I’ll be much faster now? I have one in 2 weeks (I won a free entry, otherwise I wouldn’t be doing one the weekend after my second half!) so I’ll have to see how I do! The good news is that you don’t even need to train for a 5k! Good luck this weekend!
Thank you! I kind of train for them if I want to PR. I’m not planning on it this time so it’ll be a nice non-stressful one š
I haven’t done a 5k in ages (except one in December when I paced a friend). It’s not my favorite distance. But I have a 5k coming up in a few weeks. I can’t decide if I want to go for a PR or just chill since I have a half marathon and a full just two and three weeks later.
No running siblings, but my dad used to be a runner.
